Maryland Army National Guard Sergeant First Class Collin J. Bowen, 38, formerly of Marion, Indiana.
Died March 14, 2008 2008 in a Texas hospital, weeks after he was wounded in a roadside explosion in Afghanistan.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion 175th Infantry Regiment, Maryland Army National Guard, Towson, Maryland.
He died from wounds suffered January 2nd and had been hospitalized since January 6th at Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
The fatal explosion -- caused by a homemade bomb similar to those used by the Taliban -- occurred in the eastern province of Khowst, a troubled region on the Pakistani border, according to the U.S.-led military coalition.
Collin volunteered to go to Afghanistan in November 2006. He graduated from Marion High School in 1988.
