United States Army Sergeant Kraig Foyteck, 26, La Porte, Indiana.
Died October 30, 2006 when he was hit in the neck by a bullet or mortar fragment in Mosul, Iraq.
He served with 2-1 Infantry, 172nd Brigade, based in Alaska and was two months short of returning home. Foyteck joined the military three years ago and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal in December, 2005 after breaking four bones in his back. He returned to his station and continued fighting.
He grew up in Skokie, Illinois and attended Niles West High School. His family moved to La Porte, Indiana while he was in Iraq.
