U.S. Army Specialist Cody Andrew Putman, 22, of the Lafayette, Indiana area.
Died April 12, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq from combat injury. He was an Airborne Calvary Scout with the 40th Cavalry Regiment, based in Alaska.
Putman was home on leave just two weeks ago. His mother, Pam Mow, said her son was sent to Iraq last October, a month after marrying his girlfriend, Mollie. The couple has a 3-year-old daughter.
Born in Lafayette his parents are Harry Putman Jr. and Pamela Mow. He married Mollie R. Grist at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette Sept. 14, 2006. She survives in Reynolds.
A member of the St. James Lutheran Church, he was a graduate of Twin Lakes High School.
Other survivors include daughter Madelyn Putman, at home; mother and step-father Pamela and Larry Mow, Lafayette; father and step-mother Harry and Arlene Putman, Nappanee; brother Harry "Bubba" (Jennifer) Putman, Oxford; sister Tiffany (Warren) Bricker, Sterling Heights, Mich.; nieces Cidnei and Akasha; and nephew Kyle.
His nephew, Quinton A. Bricker, is deceased.
