Army Spc. Gregory P. Sanders, 19, of Hobart, Indiana.

    Killed in action in Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 69th Armor, Fort Stewart, Georgia. Died on March 24, 2003.
  Sanders, the son of a Navy sailor, was enamored with military life early on. He wore combat fatigues at age 2, his uncle Rick Knight said. In high school, where he ran track and cross country, he committed to the Army.
  Sanders, 19, Hobart, was killed by a sniper. He and his wife, Ruth Ann, have a young daughter.
  "There was never any doubt that being a soldier was what he was meant to do," said his aunt, Lynn VanMeter.
  "He wanted to be a soldier," said his mother, Leslie Sanders. "He was born to be soldier."
