Army Spc Michael J. Wiesemann, 20, of North Judson, Indiana.
Died May 29, 2004 at Forward Operating Base Q-West (Quyarrah Air Base, Iraq) of non-combat related injuries. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Washington.
His cousin Amanda from Portage, Indiana wrote, ""Michael was a wonderful cousin, and I miss him every day. He will always be remembered and his family loves him so much. We talk about him every single day. Please rest in peace, Mikey. Love Always."
He was born in Valparaiso and moved to North Judson. He graduated from North Judson-San Pierre High School in 2002 and served with the Army's first Stryker brigade.
During the funeral service, those paying respects filled nearly every seat. The Rev. Heath Hiatt read a letter from one of Wiesemann's friends. The letter described Wiesemann as a gifted artist and musician, a fun-loving person and a true friend. He loved to fish and hunt. He loved the outdoors and his pets.
"We are sad. We are angry. We are hurting," Hiatt read. "At the same time, we can take comfort knowing that we had Mike in our lives."
